Communication in Healthcare

A significant proportion of our work involves supporting international healthcare professionals who are working in, or preparing to work in, the United Kingdom’s National Health Service (NHS). We also work with clinicians who practice in other international healthcare systems, particularly in Asia and Africa.

Communication in healthcare requires far more than language fluency. Professionals must be able to conduct patient-centred consultations, explain complex information clearly, manage sensitive discussions, and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Cultural awareness and professional judgement also play an important role in interactions with patients, relatives, and colleagues.

In luxury hospitality, service excellence is conveyed not only through operational efficiency, but also through the quality, consistency, and professionalism of every interaction with a guest. It is essential that managers and front-of-house professionals demonstrate composure, cultural awareness, and refined communication in a wide range of situations, from welcoming guests to responding to requests and managing concerns.

Our educational courses and programmes support hospitality professionals to develop communication that reflects the expectations of premium service environments and contributes to the delivery of exceptional guest experiences.

Our Approach

Our approach to the development of communication skills is grounded in the realities of professional practice. We focus on essential elements of verbal communication (such as vocabulary, tone of voice, structure, pace, clarity and volume) and non-verbal communication (such as facial expression, body language, hand gestures, eye contact, proxemics and hepatics) to support professionals to develop communication that reflects the expectations, responsibilities, and interpersonal demands of their individual working environments. Learning is therefore built around realistic professional situations. Sessions may involve, for example, simulated clinical consultations or simulated guest interactions, which allow participants to explore how communication functions within their own professional contexts.

Attention is given to the structure and clarity of explanations, the organisation of ideas, and the development of an appropriate professional tone. We also consider cultural awareness, particularly for international professionals who must navigate unfamiliar workplace expectations and communication norms.

Through carefully planned one-to-one and small group programmes, we aim to support the development of communication that conveys confidence, professionalism, and credibility in practice.

Alongside our educational programmes, we have developed a wide range of learning resources designed to support professionals who are preparing for English language proficiency tests such as IELTS (International English Language Testing System) and OET (Occupational English Test).
